Joint Promotion and Increased Level of Safety

Third Roundtable Meeting

Third Roundtable Meeting of the NauTour project, organised by the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro, was held in Tivat, at the Marina Porto Montenegro Yachting Club, on 25 November 2011.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia, Hydrometeorological Institute of Montenegro, University of Dubrovnik (Maritime Department), National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro, Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia, Port Authority of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Kotor Harbour Master's Office, Maritime Safety Department of Montenegro, Marina Porto Montenegro, and other interested parties.

The following issues were presented: current status of the project implementation, a booklet with recommended cross-border routes in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and Montenegrin Coast, and travel guides. Numerous topics were discussed relating to the current status of nautical tourism in the cross-border area, regulatory rules, problems concerning the crossing of maritime borders, and other issues.

Special guest was Capt. Joško Nikolić, Director of the Directorate for Seafaring and Inland Waterway Navigation Safety and Sea and River Protection of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia, who gave an interesting and useful lecture, entitled "Safety of Navigation in the Republic of Croatia in the light of International Cooperation with Montenegro".

Visiting locations on potential cross-border nautical routes

Within IPA 2 cross-border cooperation programme Croatia - Montenegro „Joint Promotion and Increased level of Safety of Nautical Tourism in Dubrovnik-Neretva County and Montenegrin Coast", a 10-day tour onboard chartered vessel (with skipper) was made around potential cross-border nautical routes for yachts (sailboats and motor yachts) and mega yachts, to collect information on major natural and cultural sights, tourist services, and maritime safety in the cross-border area of Dubrovnik-Neretva County and Montenegro. Potential locations were photographed and filmed. Voyage plan was adapted to the locations according to predetermined cross-border nautical routes for yachts (sailboats and motor yachts) and mega yachts.

Participants in the round table were Montenegrin and Croatian partners in the project (Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia with the University of Dubrovnik - Maritime Department and Hydrometeorological Institute of Montenegro with the National Tourist Organisation of Montenegro) as well as representatives of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia, Port Authority County of Dubrovnik-Neretva, Customs House Dubrovnik, Montenegrin Tourist Board, Dubrovnik-Neretva County Tourist Board, Kotor Tourist Organisation, Marina Porto Montenegro from Tivat and others.

In the meeting were representatives of the Croatian Hydrographic Institute, Hydrometeorological Institute of Montenegro, the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro, representatives of the Montenegrin Port Authority, Maritime Safety Department, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, the Agency for Environmental Protection, Porto Montenegro, Marine well Montenegro, the local tourist organization of Kotor, Monte Marine Yachting and a representative of the Joint Technical Secretariat of the IPA cross Border Programme Croatia - Montenegro.

img_0273.jpgPreliminary plan for production of tourist guides for leisure mariners was presented to interest groups in nautical tourism on 15 April 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Split, in the presentation hall of the Institute for Scientific and Artistic Work of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU), Trg braće Radića 7 (Milesi Palace).

Participants in the presentation were the Croatian and Montenegrin partners in the project, respectively: the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia with the University of Dubrovnik (Maritime department), and the Hydrometeorological Institute of Montenegro with the National tourist organization of Montenegro.
