Within the IPA Cross-Border Programme Croatia - Montenegro, "Joint Promotion and Increased Level of Safety in Nautical Tourism in Dubrovnik-Neretva County and Montenegrin Coast", the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia (HHI) as leading partner, completed the project activity 3.1. - Providing support to institutional development of the HMZCG (Hydrographic and Oceanographic Department) of Montenegro. The above mentioned activity was implemented through the planned study visit and training of 5 HMZCG employees in the period 4 - 8 April 2011.

Training course (lectures and practical work in the HHI departments) took place on the HHI premises (Zrinsko-Frankopanska 161, Split) and onboard the HHI survey vessel "Hidra".

b_130_95_16777215_00_images_stories_him_2.jpgKick-off meeting was held in Tivat, Montenegro, on 16 February 2011 at Hotel Palma conference hall. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Hydrographic Institute of Croatia, the Hydrometeorological Institute of Montenegro, the University of Dubrovnik, the National tourist organization of Montenegro, and the representatives of the Joint Technical Department. The meeting proceeded in accordance with the proposed agenda.

The HHI representative, Mrs. Vinka Jurić, presented the approach to the project implementation. The presentation consisted of an outline of the project structure, obligations of cross-border partners and partners within the states relating to cooperation, scope of cooperation between cross-border partners in the implementation of the joint project, reporting, visibility of the project, a detailed plan of activities, and discussions on the subject (deadlines for implementation).

Brief instructions were given relating to the project management, reporting methods, and notifications of changes in connection with the project and the project budget.

Major issue under discussion was the Plan of activities. Proposed changes to the Plan of activities were adopted, which should be notified to the signatory authorities in Croatia and Montenegro.

First activities started as from 10 January 2011, at the beginning of the project implementation, including collection and systematization of the data on natural and cultural features of interest and tourist services in the cross-border area, as well as of the information important to the safety of navigation in that area.

Memorandum of Cooperation in implementing the Joint EU-IPA Project was signed between the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia and the Hydrometeorological Institute of Montenegro. Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Hydrometeorological Institute of Montenegro and the National tourist organization of Montenegro.
