The project objectives contributed to the improvement of educational system of preschool children in the cross-border area. Using the partnership approach, public preschool institutions from Dubrovnik and Kotor prepared this action aiming to improve quality of life in cross-border area trough development of intellectual skills of preschool children and reestablishment of good neighbourly relations of two countries.
Public preschool institutions from Dubrovnik and Kotor specifically introduced the system of exercises in everyday educational activities in kindergartens which were proved to stimulate the development of intellectual capabilities, called Mensa NTC (Nurturing of Talented Children) learning system. Trough realization of these specific objectives, not only the enhanced level of cooperation established between these institutions, but also the preconditions for improvement of neighbourhood relations.
Equipment suitable for implementation of Mensa NTC learning system was purchased. This included specialized set of toys that are adapted for the preschool children. These toys were used after the end of action as they are suitable for everyday use in kindergartens.
Education of Kindergarten teachers were held for 60 kindergartens teachers, 30 from Dubrovnik 30 from Kotor. Trainings were held in Kotor on 29 June 2013 and 30 June 2013 and in Dubrovnik on 22 June 2013 and 23 June 2013. Trainings were held by experts in Mensa NTC learning system. Kindergarten teachers are educated to apply various exercises for reading, music, eye accommodation, motor functions, memory games, attention span, functional thinking and creativity in kindergarten children. These events enabled kindergarten teacher from both countries to get to know each other and to exchange their experiences. It served to strengthen bonds between project participants; give insights about partner's cultural and methodological differences and good practice exchange for further work with children.
Implementation of the Mensa NTC learning system - Mensa NTC learning system is innovative method for stimulation of functional knowledge and intellectual capacities in youngest children. This learning system has had successful results throughout. After the kindergartens teachers implemented Mensa NTC learning system, children have improved their general perception and abilities, and have gained knowledge about their neighbour. Methods that are integral part of Mensa NTC learning system consist of development of stimulation of eye muscles, movement coordination and motor functions, speed of thinking and deduction, functional knowledge (abstract symbols, music and logic). Mensa NTC experts carried out the supervision of implementation of the learning system and the results achieved, after the initial 3 months of implementation. Mensa NTC experts were available for regular consultation with teachers and parents trough on-line services, such as internet forum, and in direct communication. Mensa NTC learning system was implemented for 9 months during the course of the action and has been continued after the end of the action.
During the project implementation the promotional materials were produced for the purpose of the project promotion and visibility. These materials were supposed to be an informative guide and it included examples and results of the project and Mensa NTC learning system so far. It was necessary to raise awareness about issues covered by the project in public space of Croatia and Montenegro. Because of that, intensive media promotion of project activities and objective were covered in local printed and electronic media in both countries.
